When Elaine at Bespoke Beauty offered me a complimentary Yumi Lash Lift, I was a little unsure. I do not have great eyelashes I told her. They are not in great condition. In fact, I have some bald patches sometimes. Why do eyelashes fall from the same area at the same time?
But I was reassured that it would not damage my eyelashes. It would, on the other hand, strengthen and enhance them. Elaine is a person I trust implicitly and with over twenty years in the beauty industry knows her stuff. Bespoke Beauty was one of the first salons in Ireland to offer Yumi Lash Lift to its clients.
I was sent some of the lotion in the post so I could do a patch test. She wanted to ensure I was not allergic in any way to the product and I wasn’t.
Below, you can see a picture of the lashes before the treatment.
THE PROMISE
Yumi lashes is an advanced keratin lash lift and enhancement technique that is designed to boost and lift the natural eyelash without the need for fake eyelashes or fake lash extensions. Think soft perm for your upper lashes!
The lashes are lifted from the root, making them look longer and framing the eye more effectively. The result is a subtle, natural-looking curl to the lashes that opens up the eyes.
The ingredients include Keratin and Aloe Vera and there are no parabens or nasties used, my therapist Anna told me. Keratin is already found in our hair and lashes.
THE TREATMENT
The treatment took about an hour.
First, my eyelashes were wiped clean of oils. Then specially shaped silicone pads were used to safely lift and curl the eyelashes. The lash lift lotion was applied.

Then Anna used a blue-black tint to further enhance the ‘lift’.
AFTERCARE
Anna told me to keep my eyes dry for the first 24 hours and not to use mascara either…this allows the product to do its magic. So I did as I was told. I want to give the eyelashes the best chance to keep their lift. Of course, we naturally lose a few eyelashes a day. But they should last for at least six weeks and some people get three months. Below, you can see a close-up of one eye. I also love the eyeliner effect that was included for free!!
WHAT I THINK
I am delighted with my Yumi Lash Lift. I have never mastered an eyelash curler. So now I have the effect without the hassle. My eyes appear more open, the lashes look longer and have a natural-looking curl. Below, you can see the lashes without mascara.
It is a week later as I write this post and I can truly say I am still delighted. It is particularly evident when I wake up in the morning and I have not felt the need to apply mascara, as I usually do. I could, of course, enhance the lift even further by using mascara. But as we are in the middle of a heat wave, I have not felt the need!
OTHER NEWS
July is flying by and Graham and I celebrate 39 years of wedded bliss on Friday. It is true to say that the older I get, the more quickly time passes. We will be celebrating with dinner outside in one of our local restaurants. As I said, we are in the middle of a heat wave and it is the one time I am delighted that our house is not so well insulated. But we have been spending time with our grandchildren on the beach, so that is a joy.
In health news, I have had a dexa scan this week, long overdue, so hope the results are OK.

WHAT IS A DEXA SCAN?
FABULOUS ANNIVERSARY!
GLAD YOU ARE AND ABOUT WITH THE GRANDS…………..XXX
A dexa scan checks your bone density. My mum has osteoporosis and as our bone density is affected by menopause we get it checked every few years. I will be writing about it again soon. XXX
