The Bias Cut online shopping website is anything but biased.

The Bias Cut online shopping website is anything but biased.

My first introduction to the online shopping website and pop-up boutique www.the-bias-cut.com was through the Facebook group ‘Ageism is never in Style’ (a forum for all who agree that ageism in the fashion industry needs to go) created by Jacynth Bassett, founder of The Bias Cut.

One of the reasons that I started my blog was because I was tired of seeing only young models in magazines and on runways when it was my demographic who now had more disposable income. I wanted to see how these clothes looked on more mature women, and women of different sizes.

Anyway, I was searching for like-minded people and came across Jacynth. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that though we were writing about similar issues, she was only in her early twenties. We connected and I have been following her blog and signed up to her website for some time now. I also love the play on words in the name. Think about it!

But I have not bought. Why? Because I am a dinosaur when it comes to buying online. So when Jacynth asked me over to London for a photoshoot with two UK bloggers Laurie from Vanity and Me (below left) and Gail from Is This Mutton (on the right), I jumped at the chance. Here we are having the laughs. Check out their blogs by clicking on Vanity and Me and Is This Mutton and see their choices.

Jacynth had asked us to pre-select our outfits to showcase our own individual style.

I was nervous about this as I am not an online shopper at all. But I needn’t have worried. The clothes were a perfect fit. One of the features of the site is that you can shop by body type (petite, long, pear, apple, curvy) and only the clothes that suit are featured. There is also sizing advice and plenty of information to ensure you make good choices.

The site is not trend-driven, but more classic with a modern twist.  You will not find granny clothes here (no elasticated waists) but you will find high-quality fabrics, well-cut clothes and excellent stitching because it is personally curated by Jacynth.

My first choice involved some colour clashing. The Bowie cashmere sweater (small) was beautiful to wear and I loved the vibrant colours in the ‘Sandia’ flattering A-line skirt.

My second look with a cotton star embroidered t-shirt gives you a chance to see the silver button detail on the trousers, which  have a slight stretch that makes them both comfortable and flattering.

The same trousers feature in my third print-clashing look, but this time I paired them with a black, grey and blue leopard-print jacket and Crazy Zoo blue print blouse.

Finally, this  Shari  gold and grey brocade skirt featured in Vogue UK and is currently in their sale stock. Get in fast because once this post goes live it might just disappear.  I love the cuff detail on this copper-coloured knitted lurex sweater which I teamed with it.

And yes, I came home with this skirt, so you will see it featured again on my Instagram. Oh and you do not have to be older to buy; Jacynth has many discerning younger women who purchase!

It would be remiss if I did not thank Joyce for her professional make-up skills and those lovely long eyelashes and Katie for her encouragement during the shoot. I had a ball and am waiting now for a call from Vogue…well, Woman’s Way at least! Only the Irish will get that joke.

I love the outfits you choose, particularly the first and the fourth – the skirts are beautiful. I was so tempted to buy a skirt when I met Jacynth earlier this year but came away with a fabulous yellow coat instead which I’m featuring on the blog soon. The weather warmed up just when I bought it so I’ve been waiting months to wear it!

You look fab in all the outfits and your choices are pretty well what mine would be. I don’t think the pink jumper would do much for me though

Crochet is the theme for this month's 'Style Not A Crochet is the theme for this month's 'Style Not Age'! I may not have crushed it but I did do some damage to my fingers. Hence splints and red bandages.Yes rushing about and tripped ...luckily only on grass or it could have been worse. It might have been my teeth!

Anyway back to the outfit. I had to borrow a crochet top and bag from my friend @marie.sweeney4. And they look amazing with my suit bought from @studio124dublin and hat @wallaroohatsuk (old)

Love the colour of this linen shirt and it is always packed for sun holidays, because of its versatility.

Years old and bought @paulasmalahide. Here it acts as a cover up over a swimsuit in Dubrovnik. Also love the colour and roominess of the Yoko bag @absolutely_patsy.
