When Bellorita Handbags gifted me one of their designs, I went online to check them out. Well, I was blown away. They truly look beautiful, but as well as looking like works of art, they are also functional bags.
There is a lovely story behind the company. Founder, Jack Sun, a research scientist, moved to LA to follow his dream of becoming a designer and each piece celebrates some aspect of Oriental culture. Only in operation since 2017, the company already has a variety of sizes and designs from clutches to backpacks.
I knew the bag was special from just looking at it on their website but when mine arrived in the post, I really saw the true beauty of the Bellorita bag.
The Fish Black Crossbody Clutch is no ordinary bag. First of all, it is hand-made from high-quality full-grain leather.
The intoxicating smell of the leather was obvious immediately on opening my gift. I love the smell of leather. Don’t you?
But it was the quality of the craftmanship and unique design which caught my attention.
One of our discerning male friends remarked on how well made it was while examining it on a night out last week. Below, you can see me enjoying a gin cocktail in Peruke & Periwig on Dawson Street, Dublin, wearing a Marks and Spencer dress bought in last year’s sale and on its first outing.
Secondly, the design is unique; each fish is beautifully hand-carved. No two bags are the same. See how the pearls sparkle across the handbag, evoking playful bubbles brought to the waters’ surface by the fish.
Research on the importance of the fish in Oriental culture explains that the fish is considered lucky and a symbol of good fortune, success and prosperity. I like the sound of that.
The handbag features both a lovely gold shoulder chain and interchangeable short wrist strap, making it extremely versatile and suitable for anything from a casual lunch to a special occasion.
I wore it to lunch last week with hubby. Well, I had to bribe him to take my photos, so I promised him lunch! The off-the-shoulder t-shirt is old and the oh-so-comfortable wedges are from Paula’s Malahide. The hat is the stylist daughter’s.
And here is a close-up of the trousers, which I got on sale in Zara for €19. I know they will get many outings for the rest of the summer.
So back to the bag. The outside is beautiful, but so is the interior. Among its many features are:
- 1 Interior Centre Zip Pocket
- 16 Card Slots
- 7 Slip Pockets
- Snap-fastening Front Flap
- Fits Credit Cards, cash, phone and other necessities.
What I love about this bag, as well as the fact that it is unique, is that it is stylish, and yet practical. It is big enough to carry all that you could need for day or night. Below, heading out with friends for dinner, I carried my lippie and a compact and my phone and still had plenty of room.
So, friends, if you are in the market for a UNIQUE bag as a gift or for yourself, check out Bellorita and use a special code OHB 10 so that you can avail of 10% discount off any of their beautiful hand-crafted leather bags.

Wow, what a bag! Yes, I too love the smell of real leather. The work that’s gone into this bag is amazing and I’m more than a little envious of you. The fish design with the pearls is quite something, so unusual too.
