I had been sent some products by Pestle & Mortar, including their Hyaluronic Serum, and I was delighted that I had it to use when I returned from India. My skin was in a dehydrated state, probably the worst it has ever been, presumably the travelling and then the bout of severe sinusitis on my return added to its poor condition. In fact, it bore some resemblance to a dried prune. This required a hero product that would act quickly and I had heard excellent reports about this serum.
PACKAGING
I really like the clean lines of the chic cylindrical box. The clear glass bottle ensures you know how much you are using and the dropper applicator makes it easy to apply the recommended two to three drops with no wastage.
FACTS
1. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) naturally occurs in our bodies.
2. It is known as a humectant, meaning it works like a sponge to help skin retain water and leave it plump and dewy.
3. It provides lubrication to the connective tissues in our joints and skin.
4. It grabs moisture and holds on to it, so the skin can absorb it.
5. It is a potent moisturiser, holding 1,000 times its weight in water.
6. It helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
7. Recent research suggests that it also has antioxidant properties, acting as a barrier against free radicals like pollution.
Seemingly it benefits all skin types.
HOW TO USE
According to the experts, you MUST apply the HA to damp skin. Otherwise it can have the opposite effect and can in fact leave it more dehydrated!
If a regular peel is not already part of your routine, it is good to use one before you start, just so the skin is prepped.
Mist all over the face. This is important.
Some dermatologists suggest you use a vitamin c serum here either.
Then apply a few drops of the hyaluronic serum to your face. I have been using three twice daily.
It is imperative that you seal this in with another misting or a cream.
Think of the HA as the filling in a sandwich. It provides and locks in hydration, helping repair your skin’s moisture barrier.
RESULTS
I have been using it for only ten days and I have to say that the results are exceptional.
Ten days ago my skin looked more wrinkly and the lines were deeper. Obviously being sick has not helped, but the only skincare I have persevered with since I returned from India has been this hyaluronic serum followed by a cream.
With this hydration, it now looks plumper, softer and the wrinkles are not as obvious. It is more radiant generally. Obviously, you need to continue using it to keep the skin hydrated.
PESTLE & MORTAR
Pestle & Mortar is an Irish company and its products have been making headlines worldwide and particularly in America. There are many different types of hyaluronic acid and Pestle & Mortar’s is multi-molecular, meaning that different weights penetrate the skin at different depths, which is what you want, because this provides the best results for your skin.
The serum and all their products are paraben free, fragrance free and not tested on animals.
Yes, I am impressed, particularly with how fast it worked. The results are pretty instant.
It will cost you €43 and at the rate I am using it should last about three months.
This product was gifted, but as always I only give glowing reviews to products I genuinely love.
Never heard of this company Hilda but the packaging and your glowing review makes me very interested. I do think that HA is the key to making mature skin look hydrated and plumper, if you can find the right products.
Gail it is getting rave reviews everywhere. Secret is correct application. Thanks.
What a great post Hilda. The information is vital as I can now see. Serums are so varied and knowing how to apply them the right way is so important, so thank you for this. I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better now and that your skin is recovering too sweetie!
