Trending Now: Snakeskin Print

Hiss! Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you must know that snakeskin print is the new leopard print. Now, don’t worry, the leopard print is going nowhere, but snakeskin print is dominating both the catwalks and high street this  2019 spring/summer season.

I am  honoured to be joining some stylish blogger friends (our group is Stylish Mondays) on the first Monday of each month and we will each showcase our interpretation of a set theme.  Obviously this month is snakeskin print!

It is safe to say that these prints have come out of hiding (in the jungle) this past year and are seemingly here to stay. Why, animal print is now being hailed as a new neutral!  There was always a little to be found every year, but it has left the minor leagues and is a major player now.

Well, I for one am pleased and can indulge without being called Bet Lynch. For those of you who do not know Bet was a barmaid and owner of the pub ‘The Rovers Return’ in British soap ‘Coronation Street’. And buxom Bet loved her animal print.  And boy did she go overboard, but she was more of a leopard on the prowl than a sneaky snake in her animal-print choice.

Below you can see my snakeskin print dress topped by a faux fur coat. Some might say ‘overkill’ but the tones are the same, so I can get away with it.

I have been a fan of animal print for years, but it has not always been easy to find such items. I have a pair of Dune shoes, a leopard-print faux fur jacket and a snakeskin shirt for years.

The shoes get out a lot, the shirt quite a bit, but the jacket has not seen the light of day yet.

Anyway, this is all about the snakeskin print and you will find plenty in the shops at the moment.

If you are scared, you can always dip your toe in with accessories; a bag or a pair of shoes will make a good start. If you feel a little more daring, go for boots. They will certainly make a statement.

I don’t do half measures and fell in love with this Whistles dress. It is €229 at the moment and not in the sale! But it is not necessary to spend that much.

I have seen plenty of tops and dresses everywhere, so check out Primark, H&M, River Island and Zara and you will not be disappointed.

Get out there and embrace the snakeskin print. Do not be a ‘scaredy-cat’!

My friends on ‘Stylish Mondays’ are not in the least bit scared and neither should you. Check them out below.

Love leopard and snake skin prints!! The neutral shades and fun print are up my alley! That dress is so fabulous! I love the longer style and how you paired it with faux fur! Another favorite of mine! The brown booties are a great touch with the pattern, looks so good! I can see you wearing the teddy bear Zara coat with this dress too! I watch a fair amount of BBC, but have never seen Coronation Street 🙂
Glad to be a part of this fun group!
    Have a great week Hilda!

I have 2 snakeskin skirts but don’t participate like them. May try with fur, or maybe it’s about getting the right top? Don’t know as I am a sucker for leopard or animal print

I LOVE how you paired the furry jacket with the snake skin dress – definitely not over the top in my opinion! A lover of all animal print, I am thrilled that both leopard and snake are around for good! I loved seeing how each blogger styled this trend in their own way – that’s what makes fashion so fun in my option! Looking forward to more fun linkups this year!

You look stunning in that snake print dress. It’s a classic cut and snake print is a perennial great trend. It also works with so many things. It’s quasi a neutral.

Hilda, you look absolutely fabulous and not at all like Bett Lynch – who I remember quite fondly because my mother (who died when I was just 13) used to love that show!
I don’t actually own anything snake print at all – something I must remedy soon, I think. Perhaps I’ll start off with a handbag ora pair of shoes!

P.S Returned from my holiday in Ireland on Monday night. I must say, I’m super sad to be home this time. Ireland completely captured my heart and soul. If I could move over there, I’d go tomorrow!!
