My friends from ‘Style Not Age’ and I are bringing you denim this month. We decided we need to bring you some normality.
In Ireland, Graham and I have been in self-isolation for two weeks. We have seen our family from a distance. More restriction came in two days ago and now we can only walk within two kilometres of our home. We can shop for food and medicines. These are scary times, but we will get through this. We will get through it, if we all do what we are asked.
Unlike our brave men and women looking after the sick and in essential services, I am not asked to do anything except stay at home. I can do that.
When it comes to denim I mostly stick to jeans. It is always about fit and I find Zara high-waisted skinny jeans fit me very well and they appear every year in the store. In the next two photos below you can see the same pair worn in different ways. I am shopping my wardrobe for everything.
The Diesel pair below are 13 years old and my daughter brought them back from Miami for me. They are well worn and extremely comfortable. The shirt is a few years old from The Bias Cut, a beautifully curated online company. You may remember Gail and I did a photo shoot with them a few years ago. And Emma modelled for their catalogue last year.
And how did my friends from ‘Style Not Age’ get on?
Gail (who picked this month’s theme) looks amazing in her new denim dress. And what about those pink accessories? Pop over to isthismutton to learn more
Anna, who is isolating on The Scilly Isles where she lives, is cutting a dash in her ensemble. You can find out more at annasislandstyle.
Jacqui, who blogs under mummabstylish, has donned a new boiler suit and looks ready to take on the world.
Emma wears a versatile denim jacket with bright pink and animal print accessories to brighten up your day. Check out her blog at thestylesplash
Stay safe my friends in these strange times. If you are like me, you are in leggings and comfy tops every day. But we will get back to normality, we will put on our denim jeans, (hopefully they will still fit me) again. We will hug our family, meet friends for coffee, eat out in restauarants. We will be ok.
Love Hilda xx
You can’t beat a pair of good skinny jeans and a fair few of us will be wearing them constantly during “The Awfulness.” Wise words Hilda, we just have to make the best of the situation. It won’t be forever.
Hilda, I love all of your denim looks! I have a bit of an obsession with jeans and probably own 150 different pairs. Eek. That’s a lot! Stay safe and healthy!

Wow that many…it is a lot..But then they are a staple.. xxx
Lovely jeans! It’s all about the fit isn’t it. I’m also in self isolation for 2 weeks now. I divvy like it annulus, but what can you do. Stay safe.
You stay safe Nancy. Thanks for commenting xx
What a wonderful post, and lovely jeans too! I’m like you and have numerous pairs of jeans to my name, but always on the look-out for more! What a fun challenge, I love all the styles. Jacqui xxx
My go-to casual wardrobe usually includes a pair of jeans and boots…Thanks Jacqui xx
Dark blue skinny jeans are my favourite style too, they look smart and you can dress them up or down. This theme prompted me to go through all of my jeans and I actually discovered some I’d forgotten about! Stay safe!

Thanks Emma. They certainly are more slimming too.x
I love this stylish look on you Hilda. It’s everyday wear and works so well with your figure. This is such a strange time for us all, but I agree with you about how very simple it is for us just to stay home. My heart goes out to all of the NHS workers who risk everything day in, day out.
Hilda,
This is a great post, I love the various ways you’ve styled denim. Especially the dress! Never too old for dressing in style.
Regards,
Nancy
I want that dress too….Thanks Nancy xx
Love denim!
And, I love the way all you lovely ladies brought your special style and flare to to look of Denim!
My most worn style is skinny jeans. But I do love everything denim….jackets, skirts, shirts 😍
Rosemary
Thanks Rosemary. Looking forward to getting back to normal life soon xxx
Hilda,
This a strange time in our world but I enjoy seeing you and the girls styling your denim.
I am like you where I only see the children on FaceTime since we’re practicing social distancing.
I am pretty sure we will have limit outdoor time but for now, I am enjoying my long walks with my dog and talking to our neighbors who are out and about walking too. (6 feet apart of course!)
We’re in this together!
Hugs,
Robin
Thanks Robin. Very surreal times. Stay safe. Hopefully we will get through it soon. Hilda xxx
