Out and About with Style Not Age

Our ‘Style Not Age’ collective shows what we wear when we are ‘out and about’. In my case, I have been living in casual clothes. I presume most of you have too.  In Dublin (Ireland), we have been in and out of various levels of restrictions since last March. We had a brief reprieve for a short time in July and August when we did meet with friends, mostly in outdoor settings. But that was brief. Graham and I decided not to avail of the opportunity to visit restaurants in December and it seems we made the right decision as cases have skyrocketed.

I did try to dress up to go to the shops and we had a few Friday date nights (at home) where I made an effort to get out of the leggings.  Highlights in recent months have been trips to get my hair cut and coloured at Crow Street Collective and trips to my dentist at Seapoint.  I used these excursions as an opportunity to ditch the leggings!

Most of my socialising has been meeting up with friends for walks or take-away coffees. Recently, a few of us had socially-distanced fish and chips outside wrapped up in big coats and hats. It was too dark for any pics.

CASUAL DRESSING THE NORM

So casual dressing in warm clothes has been very much the norm for the last few months and I am walking miles nearly every day if the volatile Irish weather allows.

My coat and boots were bought in Primark/Penneys last September and the coat is like wearing a blanket.  The sweater is from Selected and the camo leggings are from F&F. My cosy hat was a present. The pictures below were taken on a much sunnier afternoon and the colours look completely different. Also I have replaced my walking boots with my Penneys studded boots.

Gian & chips outside sound great to me! Ha ha, can’t wait to eat that again! But how good of you that you walk every day! That clears the head doesn’t it. Have a great new year’s eve and all the best for 2021!

WOULD YOU BELIEVE I HAVE DRESSED MOSTLY IN KAFTANS AS I STAY AT HOME!
WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED IS I DONOT HAVE ENOUGH WARM ONES!!
SO LEGGINGS ON AND AN UNDERSHIRT of some kind.
I have noticed I do feel better if I DRESS and put make up on!Even if its for the PIG AND CAT NOW…………THE ITALIAN comes home too LATE TO SEE ANY OF THIS!
SO MANY CARS ON THE FREEWAYS HERE………..WHERE ARE THEY GOING?!!
I heard a story from a dear friend who recalls stories from her GRANNY who lived through the PANDEMIC of 1918!!
    EVERYONE WORE MASKS………
EVERYONE LOST A FAMILY MEMBER!!YOUNG AND OLD!
IF YOU WERE CAUGHT NOT WEARING A MASK…………YOU WERE SHOT!
    GUESS IT WORKED!!!
YOU AND GRAHAM KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOUR DOING!
I WILL CONTINUE ON SITTING HERE IN KAFTANS………AND MAY HAVE TO COME UP WITH A LINE OF WARMER ONES!!THAT WOULD FILL UP MY TIME!!
    BIG HUGS TO YOU…………XXXX

I adore kaftans. I agree with you. I wish people would be more careful. It is such an easy thing to do.. to wear a mask. Does it get very cold with you? Just keep wearing the leggings and one of those under armour type tops would add a warm layer. I wear them for golf. Thank you for reading as always xxx

That’s a great outfit for getting out for a brisk winter walk! I love the studded boots and camo print leggings. I want to go for walks more often but Isobel won’t come with me…anything that doesn’t involve a screen is just boring to her. I went for a run outdoors for the first time in ages last weekend and felt great afterwards, even though it was really cold!

Those leggings are fab! Fish and chips outside sounds fun. It’s got very cold this week so outdoor socialising will probably have to take a back seat. Let’s hope 2021 is much better!

Hilda, you look so cozy and warm and completely on trend with those adorable camo leggings! I really like the boots, too! I admire your dedication to getting out and walking in the volatile weather. It is so cold where I live that any outdoor activities are generally out of the question in winter, but I really could use a nice brisk walk in the cool air after months of being stuck at home. Thanks so much for sharing your cozy out and about look and linking with me! Wishing you all the best in the new year!

Oh Hilda I have such envy for those camo leggings! I have a pair of camo jeans, but strangely enough they seem to have shrunk while being stored for the past 6 months…

This was a great theme and we all did very well, don’t you think?

    Happy New Year!

I had a paisley crimplene maxi way back in the70s. Still have it. Any of you remember crimplene?

Anyway this dress brought me back in time. I cinched it in with a vintage leather belt I have from 1979.
Managed to keep it hidden from @courtneysmithstyle who I am joining in her #fashionablyfriday series.

I did wear it on a Friday a few weeks ago😂😂

You may notice the @lilyobriens chocolates on the table. Truly scrumptious. GG bought them for me because he knows how much I love them. And dark chocolate is good for me and is a mood enhancer. And we all need a little help at the moment. Trying to stay calm and positive but it is difficult.
