3 of My Favourite Kiehl’s Skincare Products

Of course, I was aware of Kiehl’s Skincare products, but I never used any of them until a few months ago. I was sent some as part of a press drop.  And YES, I am impressed.

HISTORY OF KIEHL’S SKINCARE

Kiehl’s is an American skincare company which was created by an apothecary/pharmacist in 1851 in New York. The company grew by word of mouth, as it never used advertising. But it made headlines worldwide in 1988 when it sponsored an expedition to Mount Everest, with climbers taking several Kiehl’s products on the journey.

Kiehl’s was bought out by L’Oreal in 2000.

In Ireland, you can buy Kiehl’s products in their flagship boutiques on Dublin’s Wicklow St. and in Dundrum Shopping Centre, in Arnotts and Brown Thomas and, of course, online at www.kiehls.dublin@loreal.com

When I was checking out the website above, I noticed that a number of the products are discounted, including some  of the products below. Kiehl’s also has a specific range of products for men. I might just have to buy some for Graham.

WHAT INGEDIENTS ARE IN KIEHL’S PRODUCTS?

Kiehl’s products are formulated with plenty of botanical extracts, and the company says that 95% of its formulas contain at least one natural or natural origin raw material.

You can find ingredients such as jasmonic acid, which is secreted by plants and thought to help reduce wrinkles; beech tree extract, thought to improve skin’s firmness, hyaluronic acid, the antioxidants vitamin C, vitamin E and turmeric, as well as coconut oil and cocoa butter.

HERO PRODUCT…ULTRA FACIAL CREAM  (RRP€29.50)

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream

Seriously, this is so moisturising, nourishing and yet lightweight, not at all heavy. It helps my 64-year old skin look dewy. They claim it is 24-hour hydrating and I am inclined to believe them. I have spent much more on creams that are not even half as effective. However, if you have oily skin it might not be for you. This is half price on the website at the moment.

THE PRODUCT THAT BLEW ME AWAY…VIT C EYE SERUM €44 95

Kiehl's Vitamin C Eye Serum

This is the best eye treatment I have ever used. Possibly because it is a serum.

Unlike heavy creams that tend to be greasy, eye serums are lightweight, rich in ingredients, and formulated with smaller molecules so they penetrate the skin deeper.

‘’An advanced, powerful-strength Vitamin C eye serum formulated with 10% Pure Vitamin C, Tri-Peptide and Hyaluronic Acid. Uniquely formulated for the delicate eye area, our potent serum for dark circles helps visibly correct lines, crow’s feet and under eye dark circles for a fresher, brighter-looking eye area.’’

I have had very disturbed sleep recently because of a problem with my pelvis. Despite this, I can see that my eye area looks brighter and less puffy. Really recommend it if you are in the market for an eye product that works. Yes it is pricey.

MORE THAN JUST A TONER…

KIEHL’S CALENDULA HERBAL-EXTRACT TONER €40 50

Kiehl's Toner

Alcohol-free, it is formulated with ingredients like calendula herbal extract, which comes from calendula petals. Calendula flowers are renowned for their anti-fungal and anti-bacterial qualities, which can be especially helpful to reduce inflammation and redness.

This is perfect to give a final cleanse to skin at night and can even be used on its own in the morning to cleanse following sleep. Fresh and gentle, I rarely use a toner but I am addicted now.  My bottle (above) was part of a limited edition Christmas 2020 delivery. Yours may not look as pretty!

FINAL THOUGHTS

Kiehl’s products are well priced for the quality and results. I want products that hydrate and soften my skin, so lines will appear diminished. I really like these products because they deliver. The company has utilised science to develop products of the highest quality.

I hope you are all staying positive.  Struggling with back/pelvis problems at the moment, so I am a little frustrated, but getting treatment. I will keep you posted.

Hilda xx

Hi Hilda, Thanks for this blog. I am interested in how you think the Kiehl products compare to the Skinician products you previously recommended?

    Regards,
    Theresa

The retinol is my favourite of the Skinician products. But the rest of the products were good. However the Kiehls eye serum in my opinion is more effective. It is the best I have ever used. The Ultra cream in Kiehls is amazingly hydrating. I did not try a toner in Skinician.
I have dry skin and it needs a lot of hydration. Remember that skin care is very personal. I have tried other products that do not suit me but others swear by them.
If I like a product I generally use it for several months. Then I try something new. Always looking for the magic potion.
Of all products a good serum is most effective. Skinician is good. I have not tried Kiehls yet. If you really want to find the best product for you get expert help. You need to know what your skin needs. Hope this is some help. Thanks for reading.

I have not heard of these products. The serum for the eyes sounds amazing. Do you know if they are also cruelty free?

    Thanks,

    Kim

Hi Kim. Kiehl’s states tht they are cruelty free. Ownsed by l’Oreal they claim that there is absolutely no animal testing carried out on their products.
