Hello, my friends. I am feeling positive as we enjoy the holiday weekend. And I hope you are too. I have lots of happy news to share with you. We need to celebrate when we can, don’t we? And count our blessings.
GRANDDAUGHTER
As many of you know, we have three wonderful grandsons – Logan aged 5 and a half, Cole 2 and a half and Zen 16 months.
And now we have a granddaughter (Bodhi) just over two weeks old.
When Logan was born I wrote about the joy of becoming a grandparent. One of my good friends Deirdre called it a love affair like no other. She is right.
COVID
Graham and I finally got Covid having avoided it for two years. So, what is happy about that? Well, luckily, we were not sick. Graham was asymptomatic and I had a touch of sinus. I always get sinus if I get a cold and this time I had sinus with no cold! Last November, I was really unwell with a horrific sinus infection and cough that lasted for six weeks. That was worse than Covid. We are fully vaccinated and boosted so presume that helped keep us well.
Below, I am wearing a lovely green skirt in honour of St Patrick’s Day. We could go nowhere, because we were isolating, but both it and the top are from a boutique in Malahide called Studio 124.
HOLIDAYS
It is wonderful to be able to plan holidays again. We have been trailing through Travel Department’s website and arguing about where to go. Finally, we have settled upon a River Cruise. It is something we have always wanted to do, so in early July, we are spending a week on the Danube. Have you ever taken a river cruise? Would love to hear your experience.
Regular readers will know that Graham and I have a love affair with this company and with its subsidiary TD Active Holidays.
Our first trip was 15 years ago when we went with them to South Africa (pre-blog days, obviously). That first trip was so incredible that we booked two years later to go to China, another fabulous experience. And more recently, pre-pandemic, we had amazing trips to India and Morocco . The photos below are from those trips.
We have always liked the security you get from travelling with a company you can trust. You know that everything is planned to the smallest detail. And when you travel in a group you always meet interesting people. And we have used them for shorter holidays too such as Lake Garda, Lisbon, Salamanca and Prague. And never been disappointed.
We are living through very dark times in the world, but it is important to find joy in life when we can. If it is not holidays, maybe you find joy in everyday stuff: your family, a walk, a coffee with a friend or reading an enthralling book.
Anyway, Happy Easter my friends. I hope you have a good one.
Thank you for reading.
Love Hilda
I absolutely love that green satin skirt Hilda! Pinned.
We have a second grandchild arriving any day now – we know it’s a girl.
It’s great that holidays are back. Our Greek holiday to Skiathos is finally going ahead in a few months’ time, having been rolled forward from 2020. Hope you enjoy the river cruise and look forward to hearing about it, have never done a cruise of any sort. Thanks for linking!
So exciting Gail. Grandchildren and holidays. Love Greece but have never been to Skiathos, so will be looking forward to earing about it.
Congratulations on your new grandchild! A river cruise sounds quite lovely. I am planning two vacations, one family one to New Orleans (I think unless we change our mind again) and a bourbon trail 4 day anniversary trip with my husband.
