In the last few days there has been a dip in temperature, particularly in the evenings. So, Gail’s prompt for September was perfect. ‘Layered Lux’ fitted in perfectly with last Saturday night, out with friends. We would be walking home, so I definitely would need a coat for the first time this Autumn.
Below, you can see the coat, a sale purchase from Selected earlier this year. This is its first airing. And yes, that is an Aperol, a pre-dinner drink in our friends’ house before we headed out to a restaurant. And I did take the coat off before I sat down.
An hour earlier, GG and I had headed up to Paddy’s Hill, a park behind our house to grab the last of the sunshine. It had disappeared from around our house.
So, what am I wearing?
Well, the trousers are a few years old from Zara, as are the M&S boots. But the Halston silk shirt is over ten years old and I will never tire of it. The leather tote is from Malahide boutique Studio 124 and was a bargain in the recent sale at €50.
So over that I popped a leather jacket, keeping the tones neutral. I must have it about twenty years, bought in Clery’s Department Store from the concession Kaliko. I have not seen the label in any stores in Ireland for years. Is it still a going concern? Maybe someone could enlighten me. I loved their clothes. The back of the jacket has some lovely details.
And now to my friends:
Gail (above) has gone with luxury fabrics and non-bulky items for her layered lux. Like me, she has opted for muted tones. You can find out more on IS THIS MUTTON.
Emma would not look out of place in 70s London Carnaby Street. How ‘absolutely fabulous’ is her outfit. Find out where she got it on THE STYLE SPLASH.
Anna is looking equally fabulous in her colourful outfit. See how she layered up over on ANNA’S ISLAND STYLE.
Jacqui’s green shirt and shoes adds colour to her layering lux. Check her out on MUMMABSTYLISH.
So that is it for this month. We have a cold week ahead with a drop of several degrees in our temperatures here in Ireland. So, it might be time to put the sandals away and get the boots out. I look forward to the cooler weather and wearing layers. Autumn is my favourite season. How about you?
Thanks for reading.
Stay warm.

PS. WHAT DOES MUTTON MEAN?
Ah ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ is a derogatory term used over here. So Gail uses the word ‘mutton’. So Gail is definitely not mutton!
You have a new follower Loretta Sayers Gavin. She signed up for your blog. We met up when she was here and were discussing our favourite bloggers…..
I love Autumn too. Colder days are simply wonderful. Days here in Portugal are still quite hot, but the evenings are absolute bliss. Last night I actually had to wear a pair socks lol! It was wonderful!
I love your leather jacket, the back details are so pretty. And it’s so cool that you’ve had it so long!
Big hugs

I was in Portugal at the beginning of last November and was amazed by how warm the days were…thanks Suzy xx
