Have you had a HydraFacial? I had attended an information event at South William Clinic a few weeks earlier, so was excited to head to their clinic in Clontarf for my first.
WHAT IS A HYDRAFACIAL?
A HydraFacial is an award-winning multi-step facial treatment from America, performed using the handheld wand of a proprietary machine. Below you can see me in my pretty net cap pre-treatment, beside the machine.
Each treatment is customized to meet a wide range of skin care needs, including the following:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne
- Skin pigmentation
- Pore size reduction
- Oily skin and pore congestion
I had been gifted a De Luxe Hydrafacial which lasted nearly an hour and involved many different stages. You can see some videos on stories on my Instagram and FB accounts and they will be saved to highlights also.
Lucy, my therapist in South William Clinic Clontarf, was very thorough in explaining the different stages. Before my appointment, I had filled in a questionnaire about my skin, previous treatments, medications, concerns etc. So, my therapist knew my history.
DE LUXE HYDRAFACIAL STAGES
Cleansing
Lucy began by cleansing my face with a gentle cleanser from Skinceuticals.
Then, she used a specially formulated lymphatic drainage technique to increase circulation and help eliminate toxins.
Vortex Cleansing and Exfoliation
I thought my skin was clean but NO. A handheld tool using vortex cleansing and exfoliation then swept away dead skin cells. Talk about deep clean!
Lucy applied a deep cleansing acid peel to remove bacteria, oil and make-up. As it was my first HydraFacial, she used a non-irritating 7.5 glycolic acid and 7.5 salicylic acid mixture, that is gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. This can be increased with subsequent treatments.
Extraction
During the extraction stage, a hand-held wand sucks up the built-up debris from clogged pores like a vacuum. Lucy concentrated on my areas of concern, particularly the nose. The suction was gentle and, dare I say, pleasant. Below is the aptly named Gunkie.
Hydration
So, with my skin all clean and de-gunked, it was time to add goodness.
Lucy used a brightening Vitamin C booster from Murad, full of vitamins, peptides and hyaluronic acid to help plump and hydrate.
Rejuvenation
Then it was under an LED light for 10 minutes to help stimulate collagen and also reduce redness.
HYDRAFACIAL RESULTS
My skin was red for a few hours, but by the evening it had gone. The area around my nose which was always prone to congestion was clearer. But the biggest difference was that my skin was literally glowing. Prepped by the cleansings and the acids, it was more more receptive to the Murad booster at the end.
The results are pretty immediate:
- No need for downtime
- Painless procedure that doesn’t require numbing treatment
- Immediate results that include a more refined and radiant appearance to your skin
- Deeper penetration of skin care products, including boosters used during the HydraFacial
- Gentle enough for sensitive skin
A week later and I can still see the benefits with clearer, more hydrated skin.
It is recommended to have one HydraFacial a month for 3 months to see lasting benefits.
I highly recommend this treatment if you want a glowing face for an event and for longer term results too.
My Deluxe HydraFacial was gifted, with no obligation to review. If you are thinking of having one I can recommend South William Clinic.
Thanks for reading as always.
