Homemade Eco Solutions for Cleaning your Home

I have a Guest Blogger this week, Alex Farley, who shares with us Eco solutions for cleaning.
Commercial cleaning products are full of toxic and harmful substances aimed at making the household chores easier. Not only can the price of these chemical products be quite expensive but they can be very detrimental to your health. Many people suffer from asthma or allergies, and many of those toxic products can trigger them.
It is why many housewives decide to go green and choose the Eco-friendly cleaning solutions. I am sharing with you a few homemade cleaners and I hope you will benefit from them. The best part is that you most likely have the necessary ingredients in your pantry or if you do not, you do not have to pay a fortune buying them. Are you ready?
Eco-friendly all-purpose cleanser
Mix white vinegar (½ cup), essential oils (10 drops) and water before you add 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a spray bottle. Top up with water and shake the solution till all of the ingredients mix. You can use the solution to clean different surfaces without having to worry about your health. The outcome will simply amaze you.
There is another nature-responsible recipe for an all-purpose cleaner. Get one part white vinegar and one part water, the rind of a whole lemon and rosemary springs. Combine all of those in a spray bottle. Let the solution infuse for a couple of days and then shake well before use. This mixture can be used to refresh the laundry or remove various tough stains.
Soft-scrub cleanser
Get an airtight food container and fill it with 1 ½ cups of baking soda and ½ cup of liquid soap stirred together before you add 10 drops of essential oil. The mixture is supposed to dry out. When it happens, add a little water and mix well.
Stain remover
Luckily, there are a plethora of ways to deal with stains, especially in the laundry room. First of all, believe it or not, Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) works great on removing stains! I have already used it to fight a lot of stains. I just spray on the stain and let it soak before I launder the items as usual. Another way of treating stains is to use a mixture of white vinegar and washing soda. You just need to sprinkle the soda onto the affected area and then add the vinegar (dilute it with water- 1:1 ratio). When paste is formed, scrub it into the spot and about 15 minutes later, wash.
For very stubborn stains, take a look at this recipe:
Mix 2 cups of warm water, 5 tablespoons of baking soda, 2/3 cup of dish cleaner and 2/3 cup of ammonia. Contain the solution in a spray bottle and use it to remove stains before washing as usual. As you can see, you do not have pay through your nose for a powerful stain removal.
Dusting Spray
Mix 1 cup of water, 10 drops of lemon essential oil and ½ castile soap in a spray bottle. You can use the solution to wipe surfaces and remove bits of dust with an ease. Easy as pie!
Glass cleaner
You only need a few drops of essential oil, rubbing alcohol, white vinegar and water. When you are about to wash the windows, roll up your sleeves and take advantage of this recipe. Combine the ingredients and pour the solution in a spray bottle. First, spray the solution on a towel and then rub the glass. My advice is to avoid using this solution when it is too hot outside because when the solution dries off, it will leave streaks.
As you can see you do not have to put your health in danger in order to have a spotlessly clean home. Take advantage of these eco solutions and enjoy your healthy home to the fullest.
