Our Style Not Age ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ prompt for May comes from Emma (Style Splash) and gave us plenty of scope. If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I am addicted to animal print.
The leopard, cheetah, tiger and even zebra prints are prominent in my wardrobe. No one was happier than I was when they came back into fashion a few years ago. There is a bit of Jungle Jane in me, I suspect.
GG with his Covoid 19 beard and longer locks is looking more like an older Tarzan every day too, or Captain Birdseye as one ‘former’ friend commented!
HAYLEY MENZIES
Anyway, for this challenge, I decided to forego the animal print. Instead, I borrowed a Hayley Menzies long cardigan/coat from the stylist daughter. Courtney is a huge fan of the British designer, who has been making a name for herself in recent years. Her fabrics are exquisite and her designs expressive, spontaneous and a little wild. Perfect for the discerning woman who wants something that is different and has lasting appeal. The merino wool tigress cardigan below is certainly a show-stopper.
You can check out Hayley’s website and see the wonderful designs HERE.
We have been having incredible weather, but it is always cooler in the evenings and a long cardigan is essential in our climate for any and every season.
I wore an old red top from Dunnes Stores and a pair of Spanx, which you can barely see underneath. The Spanx are new (Brown Thomas) and deserve another entire post on their own, because I have never worn anything more flattering and comfortable in my life. So, watch this space, as they say. The boots are ancient.
‘STYLE NOT AGE’ FRIENDS
My friends from ‘Style Not Age’ took to this challenge like ducks to water!
I am envious of Emma’s fabulous Scotch and Soda suit below. And check out her necklace and top too. I think my outfit is quite tame now. You can follow Emma and find out more on her blog The Style Splash.
Like me, Jacqui also borrowed from her daughter. She opted for a leopard print jumpsuit and a fabulous scarf. Head over to Mummabstylish for all the details.
Gail is prowling around her lovely garden in a palm print jumpsuit, paired with lime green accessories. You can see more on her blog isthismutton
And Anna is truly camouflaged in the jungle with her fabulous outfit. Jump over to annasislandstyle to see her out in the open and get all the deets on her two piece. Anna lives on The Scilly Isles and we usually see her in her more natural habitat of the sea.
So despite lockdown, we managed to complete another fun challenge. It may be a jungle out there, but we are all in it together. Stay safe my friends.
That is a stunning cardigan Hilda! I’m a big fan of Hayley Menzies, although so far my collection amounts to one jumper that I bought on sale from the Bias Cut. I hope to add one of these fabulous long cardigans to my wardrobe one day!

I am going to see if I can catch something in her sale. I was too late for the last one….
Hard to grasp at first, but eventually it all turned out alright. Loving your jacket, it’s a gorgeous show-stopper for sure. Jacqui x
Thanks Jacqui. I love our challenges xx
Gosh that cardigan is such a showstopper Hilda. I bet it made you feel so fabulous!!

Yes Jodie, made me feel a million dollars… xx
Great post Hilda, I loved all the outfits like you I’ve always been into animal and jungle prints.
Thanks Bernadette. Nothing like some drama with some animal prints…xx.
Gorgeous things there except for your own jungle tiger GG! Had to laugh to see him fitting the bill well. I coiffed my long haired tiger yesterday, had my smooth tiger back looking 10 years younger. Yes, even my bald man had curls down over his coller. Its hilariously. Beautiful post Hilda with bright, fun ideas.
I love the longer hair… now to persuade him not to get it cut as short when the hairdressers get back. The beard will probably go…..
I’ve not come across this designer before, but can see she’s worth a look. I have a couple of long cardigans and find them so useful on chilly days – they always add a bit of drama to an outfit too with that sweeping around you can do!
They are definitely investment pieces. Yes I love the dramatic effect provided by long cardigans…
I wouldn’t mind raiding your daughters wardrobe Hilda! What a beautiful print. I wait to hear about the Spanxs xx
Thanks Laurie. Yes I am addicted now…
