Review of Skinician, an Irish Skincare Brand

I have been using some new products from an Irish brand SKINICIAN for the past few weeks. The products were gifted and specifically chosen for my ageing skin. As my regular readers know, I like to try a new brand for at least a month before I write a review. Sometimes I do not make it past a week, because the products don’t suit me. Skincare is very personal so we all need to find what suits us and Skinician products suit me very well. The only product I was not mad about was the cleanser, so I did not stick with it.  Iprefer creamier or gel cleansers, but it might suit you.

Skinician Skin Products

AGELESS OVERNIGHT RETINOL POWERBALM

Skinician Retinol

WHAT IS RETINOL?

It is a form of Vitamin A, an ingredient that is proven to promote skin renewal and enhance collagen production. It promises to increase skin hydration and strengthen elastin. It also can help to reduce pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. The idea behind retinol is that it speeds up the renewal of cells.

HOW DO YOU USE IT?

Ageless Overnight Retinol Power Balm is a lightweight balm that can be used on its own or under a moisturiser. If you are new to retinol, or if you have dry skin or experience tightness and flakiness, it is recommended that Ageless Overnight Retinol Power Balm is layered under your night cream. It is important to begin by adding this retinol into your evening routine one to two nights per week for the first week and build it up as your skin adapts.

And like every retinol, you must protect your skin from UV damage every day with an SPF of 30+

MY EXPERIENCE

This is the first retinol I have used in 10 months. My skin had previously developed a sensitivity to it. But with this retinol product, there has been no irritation at all. And like before, my skin is noticeably smoother, softer and brighter. I see a slight improvement in pigmentation too.

ADVANCED TIME DELAY DAY CREAM

Skinician Skin Products

What’s not to love about this day cream?

It is super hydrating and very light to use, gliding onto my skin.  Containing all those ingredients which you want in a day cream (e.g. hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E), it has a luminous, immediate brightening effect.

And importantly it has SPF 30. I use it under my much-loved IT Cosmetics CC CREAM.

ADVANCED RESTORING NIGHT CREAM

Skinician Skin Products

This is described as an advanced anti-ageing night cream that works while you sleep, increasing the production of collagen and elastin to plump and firm the skin. Again, it has a plethora of ingredients like botanicals to increase hydration and repair your skin. Exactly what my ageing skin needs.

AGELESS PEPTIDE EYE COMPLEX

Skinician EYE COMPLEX

Using powerful peptides, this promises to hydrate and reduce the appearance of your lines and wrinkles. It also contains UV filters to protect the skin around the eye from harmful UV rays. It is lovely to use and I can see an immediate difference in hydration around the eyes.

This sounds interesting Hilda. Retinol has been my big discovery this year. I love it.

You may notice the @lilyobriens chocolates on the table. Truly scrumptious. GG bought them for me because he knows how much I love them. And dark chocolate is good for me and is a mood enhancer. And we all need a little help at the moment. Trying to stay calm and positive but it is difficult.
