My 90-Day Journey with Ultraceuticals Skincare

 I have been on a very pleasant journey…a skin journey with the Australian skincare brand Ultraceuticals.

 WHAT IS ULTRACEUTICALS?

Founded by cosmetic surgeon Dr Geoffrey Heber in 1998, the brand is relatively new to Ireland but is one of the leaders in the global cosmeceutical industry.

What you need to know is that Ultraceuticals is backed by science. It promises potent, effective skincare products that work. The brand is constantly releasing new products and improving existing ones. There are specific products to tackle all major skin concerns such as acne, redness, pigmentation and premature ageing.

The Ultraceuticals range encompasses both cosmeceutical-grade homecare and professional in-clinic treatment products. And that is important.

These products contain a much higher amount of active ingredients, so they can penetrate much deeper into the skin, producing real visible results.

Too often we get our advice on skin care from a salesperson and not a trained facialist, but we all have different problems and needs. Of course, there are many excellent skincare brands out there. I can recommend Ultraceuticals, because I can see the results after three months.

MY JOURNEY WITH ULTRACEUTICALS

The Ultraceuticals 90-day regimen is a more recent development from the brand. I was excited to be in the hands of a professional who would tell me exactly what products to use and even how I should use them.

My journey began with a zoom call.  I had sent close-up photos of my bare face a few days earlier, just after returning from our Danube River cruise. I admit I had been lax with my routine over the previous months.

I answered Michelle’s questions detailing my routine, the products I was using and listing my specific concerns.

Dryness and lack of hydration was my number one concern. Isn’t it always? Once I reached 50 my skin became noticeably drier and lines and wrinkles more obvious. As the years advanced, sagging around the jaw area increased. I had Ultherapy at The  Doctors Mulrooney Clinic a few years ago which I found very effective. But you need to keep these treatments up. And I haven’t!

I saw Michelle regularly over the three months and she ramped-up the ante each time, so my skin would tolerate the potent products. I only started on their retinol product after the first fortnight and then it was introduced slowly.

Below is my regimen for the first two weeks. Michelle emailed my instructions following each visit.

MORNING

• Ultra Calming Cleanser – use 2-3 pumps and remove with a damp soft cloth.
• Ultra Rich Moisturiser
• Ultra Protective Antioxidant Complex – 1 pump for face and 1 pump for neck
• Ultra Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 50 – 4-6 pumps for face, apply on all exposed areas. Apply 20mins before you go outside and re-apply every 2 hours.

EVENING

• Ultra Calming Cleanser
• Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum
• Ultra Rich Moisturiser

A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE PRODUCTS

Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 50 Hydrating

Being an Australian brand, Ultraceuticals obviously understands the importance of wearing sunscreen all year around. I love this because it is lightweight and moisturising, perfect on its own or under make-up.

Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum

This has retinol and oil-soluble vitamin C and acts to improve fine lines and wrinkles It also contains exfoliating bromelain, an enzyme found in pineapple.

Ultra Protective Antioxidant Complex and Ultra B Hydrating Serum

I had never heard of a product that deals solely with protecting the skin from non-UV environmental stressors. This is beautifully rich and can act as a primer under sunscreen or make-up.

And the Ultra B Hydrating Serum visibly plumps my skin. This can be used morning or evening.

Even Skintone Serum

It was only after the final treatment that I really noticed that the discolouration and blotchiness on my skin had improved. Containing potent exfoliating ingredients such as AHAs and niacinamide this definitely does what it says on the tin.

POTENT PRODUCTS FOR MORE RESULTS

Yes, I have seen a difference. My skin is more hydrated and therefore the lines and wrinkles are less obvious. Also, I noticed a tightening of the jaw area which I did not believe possible by just using products and in-salon facials.

But I think the biggest difference is in my skin tone. It seems brighter and more evenly toned.

I absolutely loved the facials and every time I left the salon my skin glowed and I felt I looked years younger. Below is a pic taken straight after my final treatment!

What I like about Ultraceuticals is that their products are backed up with strong scientific research. Using highly active ingredients means that Ultraceuticals skincare can make a noticeable difference in a short period of time.
