The Emsella Chair Cured my Incontinence

The Emsella Chair Cured my Incontinence

Today, I am talking about another taboo topic.

INCONTINENCE

Incontinence is a DIRTY word. We don’t really talk about it. We joke about ‘wetting our pants laughing’ but in truth it is no laughing matter.

Usually associated with the elderly and old folks’ homes, it is also a common enough problem with younger women, new mothers particularly.

Pelvic-focused exercises (Kegel) are recommended to all women post childbirth and as we age.

I have been quite diligent in this area over the years, but since hitting 60 the wheels fell off the bus! I found it increasingly difficult to do the exercises effectively. And in the last few years I have had problems with URGE INCONTINENCE.

What is that I hear you say?

It is when you feel a sudden and intense need to pass urine. There can be various triggers. My trigger was turning the key in the front door. I would be fine until I got there. And then it was a dash to the loo. And I would not always make it in time.

There are various other types of incontinence.

Maybe some of you can relate to this. Stress Incontinence is when you leak urine because your bladder is under pressure.

Activities such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, lifting heavy weights, running and jumping can all cause leakage. This can be embarrassing, particularly if you are involved in sport.

Other types of incontinence:

  • OVERFLOW INCONTINENCE
  • FUNCTIONAL INCONTINENCE
  • MIXED INCONTINENCE
  • COITAL INCONTINENCE

Some people call it an overactive bladder. But it all boils down to the same thing.

Having children, menopause and ageing all put pressure on the pelvic floor.

In extreme cases, some women opt for surgery, but this is rarely a success seemingly.

EMSELLA CHAIR TO THE RESCUE

I got the chance to try out The Emsella Chair.

Emsella Chair

WHAT IS IT?

”BTL Emsella is a revolutionary FDA-approved MEDICAL DEVICE that is non-invasive. Multiple studies have shown it to be incredibly effective in strengthening pelvic floor muscle, thus treating issues such as incontinence and intimate dysfunction.

In other words, it can improve your sex life too.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

I sat on the chair, fully clothed for about 30 minutes. I had to ensure I got myself in the correct position.

Emsella Chair in action

BTL Emsella uses electromagnetic energy to cause deep pelvic muscle stimulation. In fact, a single EMSELLA session induces thousands of pelvic floor muscle contractions (11,000 per treatment to be exact). And so my weakened pelvic floor is re-educated. It was not unpleasant. The sensation changed as different pulse patterns hit the area. It is like an intense workout for the pelvic area.

 RESULTS

I have to admit that I was sceptical at first. I went home and forgot about it. Then I realised that I was no longer rushing from the front door to the loo. And with each session I could feel the muscle grow stronger.

My urge incontinence is gone.

I have better control while urinating and can stop and start with no problems. And now I now find my Kegel exercises so much easier and can feel them working. That was not the case before.

An added bonus is that The Emsella also brings blood flow to the area which increases sensation. So you can enjoy an improved sex life too. So it is a win-win and a thumbs up from me.

Emsella to the rescue

So yes, I am a convert and will be singing about it from the rooftops. Well, no I can’t sing and there is no way I am climbing on to a roof.

BACKED BY SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

Scientific research has shown that 95% of treated patients reported significant improvement in their quality of life, and a 66% reduction or elimination in the use of pads. Many physios, urologists and gynaecologists are now endorsing The Emsella Chair.

Typically, patients undergo a course of six treatments twice a week and positive results are seen in three weeks.

My one caveat is that the cost might be prohibitive.  But I would prefer to spend money on this rather than say a holiday because it has made such a difference to my life. Maybe, it could be included as part of a women’s health programme and a percentage of it covered by insurance or the HSE. But that is a fight for another day. Now we need to get the news out there. The Emsella Chair works.

** If you have a pacemaker or metal hip you are not suitable. Braces are ok!

Some of the clinics that provide the chair have special introductory offers.  So you need to do your homework. Here are some of the clinics that provide it.

Denim....but not jeans! This was our March challen Denim....but not jeans! This was our March challenge for 'Style Not Age'. Ok I cheated and did double denim. But nothing else looked right on me with the oversized jacket. Borrowed sunnies from @courtneysmithstyle who also took the pic. I decided that oversized denim was not for me so back to @primark with it.
Good to experiment though and not get stuck in a rut!
Check out my friends @mummabstylish @isthismutton @annasislandstyle and @thestylesplash who have showcased lovely denim pieces.

I love shopping. I mean actually visiting shops as I love shopping. I mean actually visiting shops as online is not my jam. I have to feel the material and try the garment on. Sometimes (well rarely) I buy it online after I go home and think about it. Usually I just buy it. Who else is with me on this?
