Emface Non-Surgical Face Lift Review

I have been road-testing the new Emface.  You might have seen it all over social media. It has just landed in Ireland and is being hailed as a non-surgical facelift.

BTL AESTHETICS

I was excited to try it as it comes from BTL Aesthetics, the same company who brought us Emsella, which I found highly effective. It completely cured my urge incontinence and it is 5 months since I finished my treatment. I will need to keep up my Kegels and may need to get more sessions on Emsella. But so far so good. Since I wrote my post it has received even more plaudits from urologists and gynaecologists. You can read about it here.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND EMFACE

What is Emface?

I am not a science nerd so I have taken this from the literature provided.

Emface is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes a combination of HIFES (high-intensity facial electrical stimulation) and radiofrequency technology to improve facial muscle density and stimulate collagen and elastin production. At the moment, it’s the only device that can address and reverse the two main causes of aging—loss of facial muscle tone and loss of collagen.

The HIFES contracts your forehead and cheek muscles with an electromagnetic current to lift facial muscles and in turn helps to lift the soft tissue around them, while the RF technology heats up the skin and increases the levels of collagen and elastin.

THE PROCESS

A large grounding pad was placed on my back. That is how the radiofrequency enters the body.

My face was cleansed and dried.

Three small pads were placed on my forehead and cheeks to target specific muscle groups.

I could feel the heat from the pads and I was also aware of my muscles contracting as my face scrunched up. It almost felt like I had an involuntary face spasm and it did not feel the same on both sides. It was weird but not painful.  There was also a funny sensation travelling up and into my scalp. I got up to the highest level very quickly. Well, let’s face it, my muscles needed a lot more work than a younger person’s! I have a little video on FB and insta stories of the face scrunching.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EMFACE?

According to its manufacturers, it creates lift, restores volume and reduces fine lines in the face. It also tones underlying facial muscles to provide an overall refreshed, tighter, smoother complexion. Emface can lift your brows and make cheekbones look more prominent. Here (below) is a photo of my face taken before I started the treatment.

I was told it would take time before I saw a noticeable difference and it wasn’t until I had finished my third treatment that I could see positive results, even though friends told me that I was looking really well.

But following the fourth session (below) and six weeks later I can see a definite lift in my jawline, always an area of concern. So, yes, it has definitely helped strengthen my facial muscles.

My face looks fresher and I feel it is tighter and if you look at the pic below, it is also less wrinkly. I am amazed by the difference. So, I am a very happy 66-year-old woman.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON EMFACE

I think it is wonderful to see a totally non-invasive treatment that tones facial muscles and at the same time helps improve collagen and elastin production.

My only caveat is that it is an expensive experience. However, Emsella prices are not as high as they were when it was first introduced, so perhaps this will happen with Emface too.

Following its successful launch at The Future Beauty Show in Dublin, salons from all over Ireland are keen to purchase it for their clients. At the moment, it is  available at the following:

  • ANuME Wellness Clinic, Cork
  • Renew Skin Clinics, Dublin and Naas
  • HSW Clinic, Dr. Andre Nel, Swords
  • Beacon Face and Dermatology, Dublin
  • Martina Collins Dental and Skin Clinic, Belfast

And there are many more salons in the process of purchasing.

It’s a time commitment of four, 20-minute treatments, at least five days apart. There is absolutely no downtime. My face looked slightly flushed following the treatment. Optimal results roll in at the six- to 12-week mark, after the final treatment. Results are said to last a year. Maybe less on an older face? Below is a pic taken a few days ago following cleansing in the morning. Deliberately not smiling, by the way.

Would I do it again? Yes, please.

I was gifted these 4 sessions… a very lucky woman.

Thanks for reading

I definitely see a better jaw line too. It is expensive but I think it will come down in price like the Emsella Chair has.

Fascinating stuff, Hilda. Not sure I’d try it but then I haven’t tried Botox either.

That sounds good. But it is expensive indeed. But a good option!

I’ve been nervous to try out anything other than a basic facial, so it was very interesting to read about and see your results. So far I’ve been trying to do face yoga and massages to maintain my muscle tone! xo Nipa

I can see a difference! I had to look it up here in the state since I’ve never heard of it. I would be curious how long results last.
    Thanks for sharing, Hilda!

Thanks for sharing this treatment. I do see a difference! I don’t do Botox or fillers so I might have to try this sometime soon.

You’re a very good advert for it Hilda, the results look excellent, and you looked good before. I’m always very tempted by these treatments but not the cost! Thanks for linking
