Crushing Crochet is our ‘Style Not Age’ theme for August. Unfortunately, instead of crushing crochet, I tripped a week ago and crushed my fingers and fractured a bone or two. But it could have been a lot worse. I might have broken a wrist or some teeth. And teeth are expensive to fix!
So, I count myself lucky. I tripped because I caught my foot in a hole in long grass; that is my excuse. I had intended to wear a different crochet top, but I could not get it over my arms. Check out the bandages in the pics below.
Anyway, my friend Marie came to my rescue with a cute top and bag. My trouser suit is from Studio 124 boutique in Malahide and Raheny. I have already worn it a few times, but failed to get any photos. Hat is old from Wallaroo. Love it and the fact that it offers SPF 50 protection.
Jacqui who selected this week’s theme is wearing a stunning striped dress in black and cream crochet. It is a BooHoo item from Vinted. Jacqui says is very stretchy and a tad long! It might be sold again on Vinted unless she can take it up! Pop on over to Mummabstylish to see what she has been doing. Jacqui leads a very busy life with lots of holidays, dance classes and looking after grandchildren.
Emma’s outfit is typically colourful. The crochet vest is from The Chain Designs. I love how Emma has put everything together with the blouse from The Hippe Shake and trousers from Zara. You can follow Emma’s blog on Style Splash.
ANNA’S ISLAND STYLE
Anna shopped her closet for her crochet cardigan/jacket. A Karen Millen charity shop find, she only paid £8 for it! Teamed with satin trousers and satin kitten heels, white vest top and leather belt (another charity shop bargain at £5). Anna leads a very interesting life on Tresco, one of the Scilly Islands off Cornwall, and runs an art gallery too. Follow her on Annasislandstyle.
IS THIS MUTTON
Gail’s offering is a lime dress with a crochet overlay. Like Anna, she bought her item in a local charity shop. She paid £5. Why do I never find such amazing bargains? The retro look and gamine style suits Gail so well. And she shopped her wardrobe for the rest. You can find Gail on IsthisMutton. Her blog topics are very varied and interesting and include regular book, tv and podcast recommendations.
GOODBYE TO SUMMER
So that is it. Crushing Crochet brings August to a close and ‘Style Not Age’ will be turning to autumnal looks for September. I hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to Autumn, my favourite season. I am heading to the Affidea Clinic on Tuesday for another X-ray and to see the consultant. Hopefully the big red bandages can come off and maybe just a splint will do the trick.
Thanks for reading. If you are on FB or Instagram you can also follow me there. I am overthehilda on both platforms and share lots of interesting bits, including competitions and all kind of fun stuff.
Love Hilda xx
