Put A Bow On It With ‘Style Not Age’

‘Put a bow on it’ was Emma’s choice this month. So that is what we did. I seldom wear this red top (years old from H&M) so decided it deserved an airing. These wide-leg trousers (Paul Costelloe) are also years old and I wish I had them in a few different colours. The fit is perfect.

The shoes, just peeping out are a recent purchase from Zara. They have a small kitten heel and I think are comfortable, though I have not really tested them yet.

Anyway, I decided to wear the combination out for a dinner with my hubby over the weekend. And I remembered why the top is not a favourite. Can you guess? Well, it gapes when I sit, so I spent the night fixing it.

Gail is a vision in coral (one of this year’s Pantone colours) and purple.

The 1980s’ purple blouse is pre-loved from Etsy. And amazingly the jacket and trousers are separates and not part of a suit. Love the statement purple tights and boots too. Pop on over to Is This Mutton to learn more.

Jacqui is in very muted colours. Her culottes and blazer are from F & F. But it is the beautiful shirt/top from H&M that has the bow detail, tied at the waist.  And how perfect are the suede boots that match the soft pink in the shirt? You can find Jacqui on Mummabstylish.

Anna is also sporting her bow at the neck of her blouse, which was charity shopped. The Dr Martins are new, as are the satin laces to add more bows to the outfit. Isn’t the sleeve detail beautiful too? Check out all the details on Anna’s Island Style.

So there you have it. Are you a bow person or are they too fussy for you? I don’t normally gravitate to bow details on clothes, but I am becoming more partial to them. And I love how a bow adds drama. They are particularly effective on shoes!
