“Golden Girls” is our ‘Style Not Age’ theme for December, chosen by Emma. And my friends have really outdone themselves in their outfits, embracing the golden girls prompt in spades. I went for a less full-on approach as you will see.
How are you all doing after Christmas? It can be a stressful time for many people, I know. And a sad time too for those who have lost loved ones. But, I am here with my friends to chat fashion and style.
Here is a little ‘gold’ inspiration from the gang at ‘Style Not Age’.
My own offering is a little short on gold. I went for a more tonal look. But I do have a gold bag bought in Spain a few years ago. The only newish item is the skirt from Dunnes Stores and I shopped my wardrobe for everything else. Also I realise that you cannot see my gold earring and gold watch. Total fail. Never mind!
I have a gold skirt which you can see below, at a glorious afternoon tea at The Intercontinental Hotel, Dublin.
And during the summer out to dinner with GG for our wedding anniversary.
But it has appeared too many times, so I felt I had to find something new. And I have been searching for the perfect gold trousers with no luck.
So let us see my friends at Style Not Age:
IS THIS MUTTON
Gail is fully embracing the Golden Girl look. How fabulous is she in her genuine 1960s’ gold brocade dress and her gold boots. She has added a roll neck and an animal print clutch to make the outfit more contemporary. I just love the fabric and style of the dress. Those of you who follow us will know that Gail is petite and loves finding 1960s’ dresses to wear, as she prefers a gamine look. Gail is taking a break from our Style Not Age prompts, but hopefully she will reconsider. She is also stepping back from blogging and will post less frequently. I love her insightful posts on everything from health to hiking, from books to beauty. Follow her on Is This Mutton.
MUMMABSTYLISH
Jacqui has opted for a gold, sequinned skirt topped by a fabulous new faux fur jacket. This is the perfect New Year look and she looks ready to party. But if she is anything like me she will be home and in bed by 12! You can find out more over on Jacqui’s post at Mummabstylish.

Emma is our youngest golden girl in a sparkly gold jacket and rose gold shirt. And that gold bag is at least 20 years old. Check out Emma over on StyleSplash.
ANNA’S ISLAND STYLE
Anna is her usual bright and bubbly self in a fabulously colourful outfit. Gold trousers, gold-coloured buttons and design on her military-style jacket and gold details on the boots. Anna, you never disappoint; I hope you are off to some fabulous party. And where can you find Anna? Yes, over on AnnasIslandStyle.
So, 2024 is nearly over. I am making no New Year Resolutions, as usual. My aim is to find the beautiful in the everyday, in the ordinary, to enjoy the time I spend with family and friends.
I wish you a healthy and contented 2025.
Thank you for reading.
