The shirt a wardrobe staple -‘Style not Age’ challenge

Jacqui’s shirt challenge ‘The Shirt a Wardrobe Staple’ got me counting the number of shirts in my wardrobe. Dozens, literally dozens.  My ‘go to’ daily wear is skinny jeans and a shirt, usually worn outside and covering the bum.

This month is a little different as Jacynth from The Bias Cut kindly gifted us each a Gibson & Birbeck shirt from her online shopping site.

I have been a fan of Jacynth and The Bias cut.com since I joined Laurie from vanityandme and Gail from isthismutton for a photoshoot last November in London. You can read all about the wonderful clothes I modelled that day HERE.

Jacynth’s mission to champion the older woman drew me to her initially and her ‘Ageism is never in Style’ motto and badge is gathering momentum daily. You can order one free from her website, as I did.

Founded in early 2016, The Bias Cut is the first online premium fashion boutique dedicated to truly celebrating style at every age. Style doesn’t fade, it evolves, and they uniquely curate collections that recognise that.

Anyway back to the shirt.

The shirt is a 100%  high quality,  gorgeous, poplin cotton from the Gibson & Birbeck label, designed in Scotland.

The long-sleeved shirt is clean and androgynous, with a relaxed fit, perfect for women of all ages, shapes and sizes.

What I love is the unique take on a classic white shirt, seen immediately in the unusual prints.

Jacqui (whose challenge this is) and I both chose the fishing net print, but the sky is the limit, literally, when it comes to the designs, with everything from pineapples to birds printed on the shirts.

Jacqui styled hers with white jeans and added a pop of colour with her red bag. Find out more on mummabstylish.

Anna chose the dandelion print shirt, beautifully styled against the sea behind her. You need to head over to her blog annasislandstyle to see where she got her clothes.

Emma picked the jay bird feather print shirt and you can learn more by flying over to thestylesplash and having a look at her post. I am loving all the blue accessories and look at those shoes.

I styled it with an old pair of bootleg jeans which have been in my wardrobe for about 13 years. A white belt and white wedges completed the look. I tried the shirt tuck with it, the half in and half out look, favoured by many and I must say I liked it.

Then I decided to try it over one of my favourite summer maxis, added a brown leather belt and I was good to go.

A wardrobe staple you say?

Yes.

Versatile  you say?

Definitely!

The neutral of yours is great for pattern mixing. I’ve got the artichoke one and do adore it. They are great shirts

I thought I’d already commented, maybe i have. Maybe I have on Fb or IG and I am confused in my middle mutton years. anyway I love how you’ve styled this neutral shirt over a dress. That is totally fab. I’ve got the artichoke one in green but was torn between that and the feathers. They are lovely and great quality.
