‘To sleep, perchance to dream’
SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT PILLOW
We all know the benefits of a good night’s sleep. Well, if you don’t, you can check out my previous post HERE.
I have a comfortable bed, but for years have been searching for a pillow that could complement it. I have spent quite a lot of money on this quest. When buying our new bed in Harvey Norman last year, we had our heads measured and bought pillows too, which I ditched within a week because it hurt my neck. You see, I have an old whiplash injury from nearly 30 years ago which gives me problems every now and again.
So you see, I buy and try and then discard. That has been the pattern for the past 10 years. And then I return to my old, old pillow which is probably about 15 years old, so hardly ideal!
I had heard about this new REFLEX pillow and I was delighted when I was sent one to try out.
BACKGROUND
The REFLEX pillow was designed by Irishman Noel O’Connor, a specialist in the treatment of neck and back pain. He believed that the problems associated with neck pain were exacerbated by poor pillow support, so he searched without success for an effective pillow on the market.
Noel then spent fifteen years conducting countless pressure sensitivity tests on feather, memory foam and polyester-stuffed pillows before creating the ‘magic’ formulated blend of materials for the optimal pillow which would come to be known as ‘Reflex Foam’.
This is no ordinary run-of-the-mill pillow.
It is a patented and certified medical device that is designed to naturally eliminate the key causes of sleep deprivation: neck & back pain, tossing and turning, insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea and teeth grinding.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
What makes the REFLEX pillow different is its unique design.
Yes, it is rectangular but that is where the similarity to many other pillows ends.
You can only sleep on one side of the pillow.
The front of the pillow has a shoulder slot and neck support, because your upper spine and neck area need even more support, as this where most soft tissue and muscle damage occurs.
There are 2 hollows with a ridge between them to prevent head roll while you sleep.
The design keeps the top part of your spine in perfect alignment and your head is very slightly tilted which helps with breathing.
FINDINGS
This REFLEX pillow is, in my opinion, a game changer or a sleep changer!
I was told it could take a few nights to get used to it. Not in my case…I slept better than I have for years from night one. I sleep on my left side, sometimes roll over to my right, but I find I move less and wake up on fewer occasions since I have had this pillow.
And what’s more, I woke feeling more refreshed than I have in years.
Another bonus was that I was using the pillow during our sweltering nights and I found it also kept me cool.
What I love is how the pillow hugs and supports your head.
I can’t comment on the snoring or sleep apnea, but I am buying a pillow for my husband, the wonderful Graham, who on occasion snores.
That’s how much I love the REFLEX pillow and HIM.
So. at the risk of sounding like I have shares in the company, I believe that this pillow is absolutely amazing. It certainly suits me. Have a look at their website HERE. The pillow retails at 79 euro. Invest in your sleep, because it might just be the right pillow for you too.
I think I need one of these as I often wake up with a stiff neck and shoulders, as I did today. I’ve also developed a numb patch on one shoulder and keep getting pins and needles down that arm, so I probably have a trapped nerve. I’m going to pop over to the website for a look. My husband frequently reminds me that I snore – unfortunately he’s a light sleeper!

Emma you poor girl. That does sound like a trapped nerve. This pillow is supposed to help with snoring as it keeps the airwaves open. I can honestly say that it is a game changer for me…
Hilda,
I love a good nights sleep too and have been using memory foam pillows made in the states.
If I sleep on my back I tend to snore so unladylike and my darling husband’a finger starts to poke me!
Thank you, my friend, for always supporting my blog and my link ups!
Hugs,
Robin
Robin I love your posts and look forward to reading them. I can assure you it is no hardship!
