My Brows are Back with ‘Unbelieva Brow’ by L’Oreal

My Brows are Back with ‘Unbelieva Brow’  by L’Oreal (well temporarily back).

Lockdown has played havoc with my brows. Usually I get them dyed and then all I have to fill them in with a pencil. And my go-to pencil is Charlotte Tilbury. I like many of Charlotte’s products. But they have been gradually disappearing in the past two months. And no brow pencil was doing the job of covering the greys. I was due to get them dyed about six weeks ago around about the start of lockdown. That never happened obviously. You can see the problem in the photo below.

NO EYEBROWS

BROWLESS

And when GG (Gorgeous Graham) asked one morning where my eyebrows had gone, I knew I was in trouble. He normally never comments negatively. Can’t you dye them, he asked. I had failed spectacularly in trying to dye my eyelashes, so I was not too hopeful about the brows. Anyway, I could not find any dye in the pharmacies or online.

‘UNBELIEVA BROW’ TO THE RESCUE

Then a few days ago a fairy godmother from L’Oreal sent me a longwear eye gel called ‘Unbelieva Brow’. I had never heard of it. Now it is not a dye, but it promises to last two days.

I approached it with trepidation as my eyelash dying experiment had been a disaster. And I was a little sceptical.

CONTENTS

APPLICATION

Lightly apply product (spongy brush provided) to fill in sparse areas. (I might have been a bit heavy-handed as I seem to have more sparse areas at the moment).

Use the angled brush to outline and define brow shape.

To finish, comb through brows with the spoolie.

CLAIMS

It only takes 90 seconds to apply. It took me longer…but I imagine I will speed up once I get used to it. But it is easy.

Waterproof….. Yes

Transfer-proof…. Yes, nothing left on the pillow

Smudge-proof….. Yes

Sweat-proof…. I haven’t been sweating too much, but I would imagine it is.

RESULT

Delighted.

It has been so many weeks since I have had eyebrows that it was a wow moment. I was back. Initially I thought they looked a little dark and maybe I had over-applied. But I soon got used to them. Another plus was that it tamed some wayward hairs. It lasts two days, but begins to look patchy after that.

I looked awake again.

The first thing my grandson Logan said this morning on Zoom was ‘Nana, what did you do with your eyes?’

So definitely a WIN. You can have HD brow look without the commitment. It can be removed easily with oil based cleanser.

You can find ‘Unbelieva Brow’ online at Boots for €19.99 and elsewhere too. It comes in 6 different shades from cool blonde to ebony. Mine is brunette and there is a lighter and a darker shade. It can be removed easily with oil-based cleanser.

I was sent the product under no obligation to review it. As always, I only recommend products I really like and my views are my own.

A great result Hilda, very natural! Charlotte Tilbury is up for sale, likely to be bought by Estee Lauder or L’Oreal. Maybe that’s why products are in short supply.

Oh eyebrows are so important to a face. I luckely don’t have to do a thing to them as I did micro blading last season. That’s really perfect! Your brows look fabulous again!

Hi Hilda, Last month when I turned 60, I began to address the features that bothered me the most and one of them was most definitely my brows. I plucked them way to thin when I was young and of course, they didn’t grow back. In early March, I went to Tbilisi and had a micro-blading procedure done on my brows. I’ve been really happy with it, since along with having sparse brows, mine had lost the shape. Also, I wanted a more modern shape, which now, I’m pretty happy with. As soon as the salons open up, I will be headed back to the brow bar to get some correction done. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see you on Mid-life blogging, this evening where I will share my latest post.

Hilda I always joke about how the only thing that’s gotten thinner as I age are my eye brows ! I’m definitely going to give this a try. I use an eyebrow pencil every single day.

    Hi everyone, pardon the intrusion.
I came across Hildas eyebrow dyeing episode recently and as an Eyebrow Microblading artist ( I am 57) , having eyebrows ( either dyed or microbladed) will knock 10 years off your age.
It’s cheaper than a facelift and less painful too!
Hilda, you did a great job and the difference is so unreal.
I do ZOOM calls weekly for groups of women who want to explore the Microblading option without commitment or obligation.

My eyebrows seem to have gone awol during lock-down too Hilda! I try to hide the lack of them underneath my fringe although I did buy some eyebrow mascara which does have the desired effect. Your new eyebrows are lovely and very effective. Well done you for tackling this tricky problem x

I never heard of eyebrow mascara. Nothing else I tried worked. All my normal pencils were useless on faded and grey hairs

It really helps at the moment. But will get back to dying asap. Cannot believe that my eyebrows were so grey….

🪥 My new stylish electric toothbrush (gifted) h 🪥 My new stylish electric toothbrush (gifted) has Ionic Brushing Superpowers!

🪥Sounds impressive? It is!

🪥But do not ask me to explain it.Check out @ion.sei for all the science stuff. And learn about the innovative technology used in this German manufactured and Japanese inspired toothbrush.

🪥It has to do with a UV LED light, a titanium bar and negative ions. But it is rather complicated and I am not a science geek.

🪥What I know is that my teeth and gums feel cleaner and are cleaner. Because it actually prevents plaque from forming.

🪥Easy to use (there are 3 brushing modes) and gentle on gums, it turns off after 2 minutes. And delivers minimum 36,000 strokes in that time!!
