My last post of the year features my ‘Style Not Age’ gang and Winter Opulence is December’s theme, chosen by Emma.
I took my inspiration from ‘Dr Zhivago’. Mention winter opulence to me and I imagine being whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage or over the snow in a sleigh. So yes, I went all out in my faux fur coat of 1990s’ vintage, topped by a faux fur hat, only a few years old.
My Omar Sharif (GG) took some of the photos in and outside The Grand Hotel in Malahide, where we were meeting friends for a light lunch.
I wore my gifted black suede boots ( style Langton) from Van Dal (below) so, so comfy, but also elegant. Check out the metallic detailing on the comfortable block heels. I love the leather ankle laces threaded through decorative eyelets and finished with metallic aglets which add to the luxurious look.
When I got home, I decided I needed more photos and changed my boots for red shoes, just for fun.
The star of the show is the brocade skirt, purchased two years ago from The Bias Cut. You can read all about my visit to Jacynth in London and my modelling for her HERE.
I teamed it with a gold top before, but love this ‘Selected’ jumper with it too. It has such an unusual peplum. The jumper is a few years old, but it is always worth checking out what they have. In Ireland, they have several stand-alone shops and are also stocked in Arnotts Department Store.
My new Nordgreen gold watch (gifted) did not look out of place either.
So how did my friends interpret this month’s theme?
Let’s start with Emma (The Style Splash) who goes all out in velvet in a really luxurious and opulent navy dress. And what about that amazing hair band/crown/tiara. Love it. Her post will tell you where she purchased all elements.
Anna (Anna’s Island Style) wears another fabric which has connotations of opulence – yes, satin shoes and jumpsuit, topped with a faux fur. Pop over to learn more at annasislandstyle.
Jacqui (Mumma B Stylish) opts for red lace, the very epitome of romantic, winter opulence. Check out where she found that beautiful dress and those fab shoes.
Thank you everyone for following my blog and for your encouragement. I really appreciate your support. I promise more of the same in 2020 – honest beauty reviews, posts on health, fashion and travel. Have a read of a quick review of what I got up to in 2019.
Happy New Year to you all.

I must say I really enjoy the challenges. Some are easier than others…Happy New Year xxx
I love Doctor Zhivago! The 1965 original with Omar Shariff and Julie Christie, not that awful re-make knock-off from 2015.
I’ve read the Boris Pasternak novel more than once. Always makes me want to grab another blanket and toss another log on the fire. Especially those winter scenes in Varykino!
You look snug and toasty in your coat, boots, and accessories!
Kristine. I agree; only the original for me. I really did not like the re-make either. Thank you for your comment xx
I loved the movie and your interpretation of the look; I especially like the “velvet ” picture and the gift of your great smile! Thank you for sharing.
What a lovely compliment . Thank you.
