Skincare is personal…yes, but I want to share with you some of my favourites over the past few years.
FACIALS
BESPOKE BEAUTY, DONNYBROOK
When I can, I love having an in-salon facial or treatment. For those of you in Dublin, I can highly recommend Elaine Butler Doolin of Bespoke Beauty in Donnybrook. I have regular FACIALS there and also love their Yumi Lashes treatment.
Her salon is an oasis of peace and calm; Elaine has magic hands and I feel as safe as houses in her care. I have used her Simone Mahler products and they are effective and luxurious. There is still time to give the present of a voucher.
JEAN KELLY, MASSAGE & HOLISTIC THERAPIST, WICKLOW
I also had some lovely treatments in Baltinglass from Jean who offers facials, massage and reflexology also. Read my review HERE.
And now to brands:
SKINICIAN
What I like about this Irish company is that they offer different products depending on your skin’s particular needs. And, of course, that can change with the seasons, hormones or even traumas.
I have been using their retinols. I started with level 1 and have now progressed to level 2. Check out my review HERE. They have also added a rose quartz facial roller to their products which I highly recommend. Also pop over to Instagram where you can win a €100 voucher for Skinician on my page OVERTHEHILDA.
ELLA & JO
This relatively new Irish brand has been making waves in the beauty world, with a huge following already. My absolute favourites here are their cleansers and their rose spritz.
Have a look at what I said earlier this year about Ella & Jo.
KIEHL’S
I came late to the Kiehl’s party, but I have several of their products on repeat. Their sunscreen is absolutely wonderful and I really like their Vitamin C eye cream too.
I reviewed some of their products HERE.
As I said, skincare is personal. I like mixing and matching and I enjoy trying new products. Another wonderful RESTORATIVE AND CALMING BRAND is Seavite created by The Drs Mulrooney.
I have a lovely new serum from Lancome to try which I believe is amazing. Have any of you tried Absolue The Serum?
But the biggest gamechanger for me was when I started using retinol. And there is one for every budget.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
It is unlikely there will be another post out before Christmas. So, I hope that you have a good one with family and friends despite the new restrictions. Apologies for the lack of content recently, but life got in the way. And it was not always in a good way. I was battling an upper respiratory infection for nearly a month. A hacking cough affected my sleep for weeks and GG had to move into the spare room. But I am over it now and he has returned to the marital bed!
A Happy and Safe Christmas to you all.
Thank you for reading.
Hilda xxxx
Have a very good Christmas Hilda! For you and your family!
Thanks Nancy and to you xx
These skincare products sound wonderful Hilda!
I use RoC skincare products because I can switch from retinol to hyaluronic acid to vitamin C products from RoC depending on what my skin needs.
I love facials especially HydraFacials!
I have never had a hydra facial but I have heard great reports. Happy Christmas to you and your family Robin xxx
THANK YOU AND SO HAPPY YOUR ARE FEELING BETTER!
MY FACIAL LADY HAS ME ON A VIT. A twice a week………
So far the skin is becoming softer……….
Love to YOU and the HUBS have a VERY Merry Christmas!!
XOXO
I find the retinol a game changer. I hope you have a healthy and happy Christmas. Chat soon. xx
Enjoyed this post. I’ve tried so many retinol products without great results but I’m doggedly trying a new one now from Lixierskin.
I really love retinols but I found some too harsh or maybe I was over applying. My skin is softer and seems more hydrated. I see a difference if I stop using it for any length of time, so I start again.
