Shopping for the Real You

Wednesday, 10 July 2019 by Hilda
Good morning. My last blog post is all about looking the best you can for your age. It is about taking care of your skin, boosting collagen and elastin with customised treatments and products. I make no apology for trying to look good for my age.  I have written plenty about how I take care

Health Checks for Women Over 50

Monday, 10 June 2019 by Hilda
Most of us tend to avoid doctors and health checks in our younger years unless there is some specific reason to book an appointment. But when we reach 50 or so (and have been lucky enough to stay healthy) it is definitely time to schedule some health checks. Much as we hate to admit it

Serious Readers’ Alex Light Review

Monday, 06 May 2019 by Hilda
I can see clearly now…. I am actually talking about my vision, but it is also a bit of a ‘light-bulb’ moment. You see, I took delivery a few weeks ago of my Serious Readers’ lamp. And wow has it changed how I see things. Let me explain. MY EYESIGHT HISTORY 30 years ago, I

Top Tips to help improve your Memory

Monday, 22 April 2019 by Hilda
There has been a lot written about memory recently and what we can do to help prevent dementia and maybe even Alzheimer’s so I thought I would re-post this. I waited until after Easter to post because it has been suggested that high sugar diets (as well as being detrimental to overall health) can also

How to Look after your Skin at Any Age

Monday, 04 March 2019 by Hilda

Checking my Fit Factor at Genofit

Monday, 11 February 2019 by Hilda
Our genetic material (a.k.a genomes), fitness levels and lifestyle choices all affect our overall health so I jumped at the chance of being checked out (for free) in the Genofit Research Study at the UCD Institute of Sport & Health. Looking Back on 2018 – A Mix of Good and Bad

Wednesday, 23 January 2019 by Hilda
2018 – what a year! Like most years it had a mixture of bad and good.   GORGEOUS GRAHAM! Health-wise, GG certainly had a mixed year. He had a hip operation in March and while a lot better than he was before the operation, I wouldn’t say that he is back to full mobility yet.

Gift Guide Part 2 – the ‘Smelly Stuff’

Tuesday, 18 December 2018 by Hilda
My most memorable gift when I was teenager was perfume. Who remembers ‘Charlie’, a floral fragrance with sandalwood and musk produced by Revlon? The perfume epitomised the modern girl and I considered myself one of those. The TV and print advertisements with Shelley Hack (later of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ fame) in her jumpsuit was the girl

‘Frill Seekers’ is the challenge for our ‘Style not Age’ group this month and I must admit that I found it a challenge. When it comes to frills, I am quite muted. Let’s face it, frills add bulk, so they can be difficult to wear. I tend to keep frills to a minimum in a

Nothing beats a facial when you want to feel pampered. Recently, I have had Micro-needling, which while very effective, is certainly not pain-free, and a TriPollar facial, which while not painful could hardly be called pampering. But I was in for a real treat with Elaine, owner of Bespoke Beauty in Donnnybrook in Dublin…she is,

🪥 My new stylish electric toothbrush (gifted) h 🪥 My new stylish electric toothbrush (gifted) has Ionic Brushing Superpowers!

🪥Sounds impressive? It is!

🪥But do not ask me to explain it.Check out @ion.sei for all the science stuff. And learn about the innovative technology used in this German manufactured and Japanese inspired toothbrush.

🪥It has to do with a UV LED light, a titanium bar and negative ions. But it is rather complicated and I am not a science geek.

🪥What I know is that my teeth and gums feel cleaner and are cleaner. Because it actually prevents plaque from forming.

🪥Easy to use (there are 3 brushing modes) and gentle on gums, it turns off after 2 minutes. And delivers minimum 36,000 strokes in that time!!
